How Holly: DIY Keychains with Cricut Faux Leather & Vinyl

Hey Belle Hey-

We are back with another fun DIY. I love adding a fun accent especially with my name to my purses, bookbags, or travel journals. It’s great to add a little extra sparkle or to just help your stuff stand out from the crowd.

I’m sharing two options for keychains. The first one is making a bow with faux leather and the second one is adding vinyl to an acrylic disk with a tassel from Amazon.

What you will need for the Faux Leather Bow Keychain:

-Faux Leather (I’m still using the same pieces from the Hair Bow Tutorial )

-Iron On Vinyl (this is optional-if you would like to add your initial or a design)

-Super Glue (I’m using Gorilla Glue)

-Lobster Clasp keychain hook

Now that you have gathered your supplies head over to Cricut Design Space for my Bow Project and open the project.

Belle Tip: Make sure you select customize to change the initial letter or to omit the letter before cutting using your deep cut blade and the faux leather setting

Once you have your items cut out you will want to start to assemble the bow. Place a small amount of glue in the center of the bow and then secure one side to the middle-Hold it tight until it dries and then secure the other end of the bow.

Once you have secured the bow wrap the center around the glued portion in the back and then place the lobster clasp on the center piece and secure the center with glue.

Belle Tip: Leave a little space so that your lobster clasp can have a little wiggle room. I also cut some the center strip once I have wrapped it around the bow.

The last thing you want to do is glue the bow to the back (or bow tail).

Belle Tip: I used my Cricut Easy press to place my initial just before gluing the two bow pieces together.

Another way to make a keychain is to use acrylic discs and vinyl (I used holographic vinyl because it’s currently my favorite). Check out the video tutorial here.
